The ideal thing would be a USB keyboard with a built-in hub, Mac style.
The USB wireless keyboard/mice are fine, the computer sees it as a USB HID device with a battery level monitor. Unfortunatly it will keep bugging you about low battery within days of changing them if you use rechargable batteries. They'll keep running for ages, but it thinks they are low because of the lower voltage.
