I'm not sure what you mean by KMail2; I've been using KMail since the founding
of the world and the current version is KMail 4.7.3. I've also used Evolution
in Ubuntu on my Netbook and haven't found it to be particularly good or bad.

As far as the benefits of KMail are concerned, I've not yet found any mail
client that deals with identities better. I have two or three mailboxes for
each of my family and umpteen aliases; personal messages are aliased to the
main box and all commercial addresses are aliased to the box designated for
mail to and from suppliers like Amazon, etc. KMail supports this really well
because if I get a message addressed to one of my aliases, it replies from
that address and if I want to send from an alias, it allows me to select the
address I want to use from a list of all my identities. It also provides
folder support for identities, so if I direct all mail to a particular address
to a particular folder and then select New Message from within that folder,
the message comes from that address, not the default address. That's how I
can use a special address for this list and rarely send from an address that
the list server doesn't recognise (it is possible to break it if you really
try).

Other than that, it's the main reason for me sticking with Kubuntu (or it was
until Unity arrived).
