Hi Tim,
I have had a power cut at home (toaster went bang), when the power
came back on two of my PC's refuse to boot up all the way, they both
go through the boot process and get as far as configuring network
interface and then freezes.
This is without `quiet splash' on the `linux' line at boot so you can
see kernel messages? Are they the same model of hardware? Perhaps post
a photo of the screen of messages once it's hung, e.g. to
http://derp.co.uk/ so we've more to peer at and compare to working
boots.
Cheers, Ralph.
Hi Ralph
It seems to be a DHCP issue, I have just edited /etc/networks/interfaces
(via live CD) to have static IP and I am up and running on this PC
(Debian Mint). I have not tried the other PC as it was due to be
replaced so I have ploughed on with getting the replacement PC up and
running but I may well just check to confirm it is the same on both boxes.
Picture of the Debian desktop can be seen at this location
