Hi Tim,
It seems to be a DHCP issue, I have just edited
/etc/networks/interfaces (via live CD) to have static IP and I am up
and running on this PC (Debian Mint).
Is it possible they had a long uptime before the power-cut and so this
problem had been sitting there for a while, waiting to bite?
Cheers, Ralph.
Possibly but the router was also affected by the power cut so leases
would of been reset and I cleared all the dhcp lease in the router as well
I am just about to put the replacement PC (in place of the debian PC)
into its place and then remove the old hard disk and pull all the info
off of it on to the new PC.
I will investigate the DHCP issues when the immediate problems have
calmed down
Tim
