That's quite a neat search tool :-) Anyway, I found the reference from April last year and guess what? It was you who told me what to do Ralph :-) Here is what you said at the time: >> You're probably getting the package from >> http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/pool/partner/s/skype/. You could >> uninstall skype in the normal way, skype-bin should go too, then >> download a skype .deb and matching skype-bin .deb from there to a new >> directory and try installing them with >> sudo dpkg -i skype*.deb >> All at your own risk, naturally. :-) I tried that, but dpkg through a wobbly and barfed when it tried to instal V 4.2.0.11 of skype-bin and fell back on installing V 4.3.0.37 (the broken one). After a bit of fiddling, I was able to install skype-bin using the the Package Installer, but not skype. I then noticed that the download for skype is 15.7 kB, whereas skype-bin is 16.2 MB, so I ran Skype and it seems to work !!!
