From Kubuntu using the printer wizard, I seem to have been able to
install my HP Deskjet D1660 using Cups and gutenberg printing, But
when I try it hangs at 21% after rendering, with a printer not
responding message.
Did you tell your local machine that the printer was remote,
presumably on 192.168.1.1, your router, and that it should use the
Internet Printing Protocol, port 631, to talk to it? Or could it be
trying to contact a printer on the local machine and failing? You
could try talking normal HTTP to that remote port to see if anything

I can't find any (TalkTalk DSL3780) router feature to connect a device
to the USB socket. What I did find, after plugging in my printer and
powering it on, was a list of entries in the log. The first was:
udev_node_mknod: mknod(/dev/2-1, 020660, 189, 129) failed: Read-only
file system
There were several like this, ending with:
udev_node_mknod: mknod(/dev/usbdev2.2_ep82, 020660, 254, 9) failed:
Read-only file system
and finally:
udev_db_add_device: unable to create db link
'/dev/.udev/db/block@sda': No such file or directory
I guess these are all referring to the router filesystem and I can't
find a feature to make it writeable.
