Duration: 04/19/2010 - 12/31/2010 TITLE OF POSITION: Microsoft Share Point - Business Intelligence Reporting – Lead * Please respond to **[email protected]* * * *GCs or Citizens only* JOB PURPOSE: The Business Intelligence Reporting Leader will be responsible for business analysis and system architecture related to business intelligence and reporting projects, including data integration, reporting, and analytics. The Business Intelligence Reporting Leader will conduct user interviews, document requirements, create standards and best practices, design solutions, write business and technical requirements, and oversee and contribute to development. The Business Intelligence Reporting Leader will work with a team of other architects and developers, both in-house and outsourced, to drive projects from inception to completion. External research and adaption of key data analysis methods and best practice. The Business Intelligence Reporting Leader will work closely with Product, Marketing, Finance, and Legal departments as well as third party groups to deliver on business objectives. The Business Intelligence Reporting Leader will extract business requirements, assist in project prioritization, and promote the Data Warehouse strategy to internal business leaders. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, TASKS: Responsible for technologies, applications and practices for the collection, integration, analysis, and presentation of business information<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information>and sometimes to the information itself. The purpose of business intelligence is to support better business decision making. Use of data profiling methods to analyze source data Advanced experience/training with major BI tools to build the capability for analytical processing or multidimensional analysis (Microsoft Reporting Services / Analysis Services a must) Influence Business Requirements to align with Business Strategies and to leverage Technology Understand business process including mapping, data flows and reconciliation procedures Familiarity with the major statistical techniques, including the most common data-mining methods (for example, clustering, regression, case-based reasoning, neural nets and decision trees). Design an appropriate security model for data marts and cubes Work with Data Architect to design Data Marts for user reporting Design cubes for user analytics, including hierarchies, perspectives, and mining models Define and design executive dashboards in line with business strategy and objectives Stay abreast of current best practices and trends in the BI space. Ensure adaption of new BI tools implemented within Clients enviroment GENERAL Good problem solving skills, logical process thinking and end-to-end system concepts 6-10 years experience with relational database systems and advanced understanding of data warehouse concepts and techniques. Advanced experience writing and evaluating complex SQL with any major RDBMS; Ensure “best practices” are used in defining business process. Evaluate previously defined data and programs to determine appropriate action. Integrate cross functional Business Requirements to maximize development value and minimize redundancy and unnecessary work. Create appropriate documentation to support effective requirements definition including charts, graphs, and logic model diagrams as necessary Ability to articulate complex technical strategies to senior IT management Encourage collaboration between IT staff, business users and information analysts Ability to communicate to senior level business executive in non technical terms Business process analysis, documentation, and communication to owners Communicate and collaborate with business partners, IT leads, and architecture teams to ensure conversions strategy and efforts are in alignment with business and technology standards. REQUIRED: KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION The capacity to distill the relevant parts and to produce sound recommendations, based on the right set of metrics. Previous experience in all areas of the Information Technology field, including programming, systems design and SOA environment. Implementation of reporting/analytic applications in a multi-terabyte SQL Server 2008 data warehouse Experience with OLAP concepts and methods Use of complex SQL using SQL Server 2008 functions Good knowledge of SQL Server to analyze and improve query performance Experience with VB .NET or C# Programming is a plus Software Development Lifecycle process Data Warehousing/Decisions Support Systems (Analysis Services) Relational database concepts and data modeling Statistical methods including business forecasting methods Proven ability to research business problems and create models that help analyze these business problems Education Requirements: Bachelors Degree, or equivalent work experience, in Computer Science, Applications Systems Design, or other related Data Processing field of study.
