If you find yourself frequently referring to the .NET Components
section for toolbox customization, you might have wished that it
defaulted there, as I did. I finally took it upon myself to root
around and see if I could find a way to make this possible, and I was
successful! Please note that these steps are performed at your own
risk (IANAME*).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.0\ToolboxPages\.NET Framework
Components
In this key, create a new DWORD value called "DefaultTbx" and assign it the
    value "14" in hexadecimal.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\7.0\ToolboxPages\ActiveXControls
In this key, remove or rename the value called "DefaultTbx".

After performing these two steps, you'll finally enjoy what you didn't
even realize you'd been craving up until this point.

For those desiring the future now, you can completely remove the
entire ActiveXControls key to deny yourself (and/or others) the
temptation to delve into "legacy land." :)
