Actually, the owners of this list have already spoken: they created the dotnet-products mailing list for just such announcements. I'm not bashing either party, because I can be easily drawn off topic (just like now... is this technical .NET discussion? no), but it would be very helpful if everyone educated themselves on the available lists and then used the most appropriate list. Posting to the wrong list with an advertisement has caused a significant jump in traffic discussing it (from both sides), and has no doubt created some ill will on all sides. Had the original message been posted to the correct place, none of that would've happened.
