No specific example, but having tried to make apps work across database platforms before I find that using SQL statements doesn't always work etc - some functions vary slightly in each db etc. Was more of a general statement of "trying to go the easy way out often bites in the end". Keeping the data access statements and code etc entirely separate will make things easier ultimately I believe.
