I had a similar type of problem some months ago, and although a quick
Google showed me how to launch Excel and
interract with it, I had great problems trying prevent the user
getting in the way and I never did find a way to shut it down
from my application.

Then I found a thing called SpreadsheetGear. Not cheap - but an
amazing product. A complete Excel look alike
that you just plug into your .NET application.

Problem solved.
