I am seeking a skilled programmer for a project which should take but
5 hours, though I am concede some programmers may need up to 10 hours.

Project is a compression utility using a copyrighted method I have
created as a hobby.

The designer will need to be able to convert files to binary, work bit
by bit in binary, save the resulting 'compressed' file, load resulting
file, incorporate a timer into the software (to show length of
compression and decompression stages) as well as be able to show
original size versus compressed size information. Additionally the
programmer must account for any .DLL's, extensions, and the likes that
will be needed to make this function on any Windows 9x/ME/XP/2k/nt/
Vista pc.

I will need a interface for ease of peer review, no command line
software please! Also I would prefer not to use web based languages as
these are generally slower and may have issues with larger files.

Project will pay a flat cost of $300 for working software (built to
specs) with a bonus for exceptional work of up to $200. If this is to
small an amount for you, I am sorry this economy has killed my spare
income amounts, and I will be unable to pay more for months. Lean
times = lean pay... $500 is all I could save up with my extra
paycheck...

I used to live in an area where I knew 3 people I could walk to for
software, they used to make my software for reasonable fee's. I do not
have their numbers due to a bad phone... If this works out I may hire
you in better times for encryption and compression software to test
against benchmarks.

This compression utility in this effort is a lossless variant,
designed to be able to be used on most files successfully, though the
gains in some may be rather minuscule, time wise I hope decent but
expect pretty long compression times. Math is not fully worked out,
but since all steps are logical and ordered, with a 100% reversal
rate, there is no expectations of issues in developing this software.
If this software beats any benchmarks I can acquire additional funds
from an investor friend for a series of statistical programs to test
the theoretical limits of this software. In this regards I think I
have a contender for text compression, but without functional software
we cannot hope to know for certain due to the high math involved in
deriving statistics without a working model to assist in developing
that bit of information.

A contract will be issued to the programmer to guarantee their payment
if they provide the software in functioning form.

Please do not harass me if you consider this low pay. I have web
design skills and I know that some people expect $1,000 an hour for
1,000 hours for a single web page, and that I used to make a whole
website for $50 to try to get my name out. 1337 skills is cool and
all, but I cannot pay, and someone in this economy may want this. I do
think $30 to $60 an hour is a reasonable wage in any event.
