Hello!

Thanks to ZaG who is willing to enter the team, I discovered the online
translation system Transifex which works with PO files. I've been looking for
such service without success and it seems this one is really what I've been
looking for. So I created a project for DoudouLinux, you can access it at the
following URL:

http://www.transifex.net/projects/p/doudoulinux/

I invite you to look at how it works. You will find in this project components
that correspond to the various applications whose PO files were to be created
or updated. Beware that components are not all displayed in large boxes in the
project page because they are a lot. So 6 components have nice boxes as the 10
other ones just have small links.

The main advantages of this solution are the following:

* latest translation PO files are all available online automatically because
Transifex is connected to our SVN server (yes it is!)
* Transifex computes translations status automatically (of course for PO files
only)
* contributors do not need an SVN account to operate onto translation files
* there is a team manager for each language who accepts new contributors for
his language
* we may have access to a (very) large community of translation contributors
(nearly 1000 projects registered)

Another interesting thing: we can access easily the most up to date translation
files of applications that are shipped within DoudouLinux. For example have a
look at the LXDE project which manages all those Lx apps requiring a lot of
translations:

http://www.transifex.net/projects/p/lxde/

The only drawback right now is that work that contributors submit doesn't get
recorded onto our SVN server directly. This may be possible but it would
require a generic account on Gna… So contributions are sent to an email address
instead (and I still have to put them back to the right place).

Anyway I think it worths testing intensively so do not hesitate to dive into
it! And tell me thereafter of course…

Regards,

JM.
