Hello there! This week was the latest one before our next release… Hem, we're nearly OK, there is still some work on the website but the CD's are supposed to be OK and they're still being uploaded to the dailybuild section. We'll be finally quite on time!
Note that I added a new topic in this newsletter: organization. As you now all know we are moving to a status of official Linux distribution so we need to get organized in respect with this new status. We've been discussing here and there with some of you about our legal structure, now time has come to set it up… That's just the beginning of course, be patient as usual! Cheers, JM. Team ==== * We welcomed our first Polish contributor and he's already at work: Kilab. Welcome to our project! Organization ============ * Discussions are on the road with the OIN in order to get a protection against potential patent lawsuits. We will sign but want to perfectly understand the licensing contract, particularly regarding the term of our “affiliates”. * With Elisa we started to discuss about setting up an association in France for our project. This association will be the only organization officially representing the DDL project and its contributors. Its role is still to be detailed and would basically consists in ensuring the long life of the project thanks to donations, volunteers and communication activities. The association will sign the license agreement with the OIN as soon as possible. Let's call this association “The DoudouLinux foundation”. Translations ============ * Lars did a great job and has been providing tons of Swedish translations since 10 days. We will have a Swedish CD translation level around 95% for the new release! * Kilab is competing with Lars ;) and has provided tons of Polish translations this week-end. Thanks to his effort the Polish CD will be above 80% translated for the new release :). * I also received additional Chinese translations from Samsongcn, French translations from Elisa and Spanish translations from Yago. * Sergey translated icons of applications and categories (Russian). Please don't forget to translate icons too. Unfortunately the file formats of icon files is not compatible with PO files and cannot be submitted to Transifex. Currently only text edition is possible but, if one of you can't live without Php programming ;), we can plan to code an online translation portal for icon files. If you're interested, just mail me! CDROM ===== * Fixed the font issue in Childsplay on the Russian CD. However we have a problem on the Russian CD: some Childsplay activities require a Latin keyboard and some others a Cyrillic one… Moreover there is an encoding issue in the letter activity, which cannot start as a result. :( * Fixed liveusb-write which was not able to write the persistence file anymore. Graphics ======== * A first new banner for the release was proposed but is still needing improving. Don't know if it'll be ready on time… Website ======= * New public pages: Screen setting, Reporting a hardware issue, Setting the menu of activities. * The word “session” has been replaced with the more understandable word “activity”. * I beautified the dailybuild section. Now files being uploaded are not generating error messages anymore but appear in the table with a SHA1 sum saying “file being uploaded”. * I added a spam filter using tokens on our website that just complicates the life of spam robots. It seems to be efficient since spam messages in our guest books have stopped. * The private section now has links to the online SVN browser and the download link is now pointing to the dailybuild section. Please have a look at the history of English pages to backport their recent modifications into your language. Communication ============= * A Russian article about 3 Kid's distros has been published on 3dnews.ru: Qimo, DDL and Sugar on stick (see http://www.3dnews.ru/software/detskie-distributivi-linux/). * New article on Gismoz: “Best Free Operating System For Kids” aka. DoudouLinux ;) (see http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/best-free-operating-system-kids.htm). * A Polish article on a Debian related site asked for Polish translators, maybe Kilab came to us thanks to this article? * A detailed Chinese article has just been published (see http://server.zol.com.cn/218/2180756.html). It is leading a lot of visitors to our website :). Support ======= No news. _______________________________________________ Doudoulinux-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/doudoulinux-dev
