Hello!

Here are the weekly news. This week was a bit quiet compared to the previous
one but we're still moving fast and forward as you'll see :).

Cheers,
JM.

PS: if you feel that I forgot to mention an important news, feel free to answer
this mail with your scoop!

Team
=====

* We welcomed a new Italian contributor on Transifex: lfasci (Lorenzo Fascì).

* We welcomed a new Dutch contributor from LinuxMint.be: Stefan.

Welcome to our project!

Organization
===========

* With Elisa we started to use the DoudouLinux IRC channel on freenode (see
message https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-03/msg00050.html). You
are invited to join us there too, mainly in the evening for me (19h-22h GMT).
Don't be afraid of seeing us speaking French: we'll switch immediately to
English!

* Nava wrote me about his ideas for the project. I'll try to give you more
details soon: why not using Xfce, what about derivatives of DDL (planned!),
what about a nicer interface (planned!), what about using the mouse cursor to
indicate what to do?

Translations
===========

* I received updated translation files for Chinese (Born, Samsongcn), Dutch
(FrenchR), Greek (Panos), Italian (Lorenzo), Persian (Nava), Spanish (Yago) and
Swedish (Lars).

* Special congratulations for Yago who is leading Spanish to the small group of
100% translated languages. He's not fully at 100% but we can consider that this
is done! This is really great news.

CDROM
=======

* As I said before I'll build an intermediary update 2011-03 during the coming
days. No new features, just many new translations, which is not minor!
Concerned languages are: Chinese, Dutch, Greek, Italian, Persian, Polish,
Spanish, Swedish. Quite a lot…

* Gérald and I are getting organized to have DDL based on Debian Squeeze
instead of Debian Lenny. A new page is available on our public website about
this process (see
http://www.doudoulinux.org/web/english/contribute/developers/article/migration-to-debian-squeeze).
 Anyone interested in helping can join the effort :). Note that we don't know
when it'll be ready…

* With Elisa we started to evaluate a new software: TBO (see
http://danigm.net/TBO). This is a tool to easily design comics. As it is not
part of Debian, Elisa contacted the author to have his support for DDL. More
information will come on this list.

Graphics
========

No news.

Website
=======

* Benheng proposed another Chinese page for publication (DoudouLinux, the
computer they prefer!).

* I proposed a new page for publication (Why try DDL?). I started a thread on
this list to discuss about its content (see message
https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-03/msg00059.html).

* With Elisa we're planning to redesign our download links and our download
page. You are invited to give your opinion about the 3 proposed alternatives :)
(see message https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-03/msg00053.html).

* We still have to write a news to announce that DDL joined the OIN plus a news
to tell that Persian has started plus a news to tell that the migration to
Squeeze is on the road…

Communication
=============

* Richard will continue to write this week his presentation of DDL for the
Maracaibo FLISOL event on 9-April (see http://flisol.org.ve/).

* Denis got additional Dutch speaking supporters to help translate the website
into Dutch (see message
https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-03/msg00054.html). He simply
asked for help on Linux related forums, so now read the following item…

* Elisa talked with the leader of the localization of Mozilla (Pascal). He
explained her how they manage to find translators for 85 languages (see message
https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-03/msg00058.html). One method
is posting on forums ;). We now have to start doing like Mozilla does :).
Volunteers wanted to help do this task!
