Hello Xavier, Don't worry I hadn't imagined your message could be negative at all :).
> But Dad will be interested to test how to do (as soon as I provide her > a more powerful PC). Curiosity is a nasty thing, but so satisfying for > a IT guy. Curious people are needed to make things go forward, what we want to do! > I’m willing to put my skills at your service. Glad to read this :). We're still looking for many different skills because we're a young project. > But what I fear most is not have enough time (I am already engaged in > Café Numérique and Mozilla Belgium). We're almost all in the same case and we cannot decide for you. If you believe you can offer a small part of your time to our project, your involvement will be as welcomed as any other involvement. The question to discuss would then be: to do what? > My abilities are primarily: SaaS and web audit (quality). We have several ideas concerning web services, currently: * build a translation portal for files that Transifex cannot handle (application/category icon files and sound files) * setup a Php/Ruby/Perl Torrent tracker using our Http download area as seeds * provide a clear translation status table of Spip articles In the mid-range future, I'd like to have DoudouLinux online through remote visualization (VNC, Spice, RDP, etc.), to have an online CD customizer. For a longer range NagiosFree proposed an ambitious web OS. Maybe if you tell us more about your skills we can faster find a way to start working together. As far as I'm concerned I'm not expert in anything but can program (Python, Linux shell mainly, bits of C/C++/Php/Tcl), make web pages (Html, Xml, CSS, bits of JS), install and administrate basic servers (LAMP, Jabber, FTP, etc.) and audit server security. Artistic skills are also welcome: writing, drawing, music. > The second drawback is that I speak very bad English (my mother tongue > is French). Really? I wouldn't have bet! Don't be afraid of making mistakes, we need everybody to express himself/herself, even using an approximative English. If we don't understand we'll help you reformulate. NB: I'm French but will never write in French on the list, eventually on the IRC channel when our Polish/Russian participant have gone to bed ;). > Of course, I can help you in this area but all my documents and > procedures are in this language. Not a problem, we can translate it afterward if needed. We also have a kind native American speaker who can help us write a perfect English (because we do not :) ). > Otherwise , I do many shows and events for Mozilla Belgium , I can > also speak and provide informations on DoudouLinux (I work a lot with > people Oo4kids , Ubuntu and other big open source software) . Very interesting indeed. While I don't know right now how the project can benefit from your activities, I feel that we have to discuss about this opportunity. What about joining us on the IRC channel one of the coming evenings? I'm usually connected between 19h and 22h GMT. Cheers, JM. _______________________________________________ Doudoulinux-dev mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/doudoulinux-dev
