Hello there. I am Salvatore, the italian contributor that recently came back to start website translation. I would just clarify that Sostenibilista it's just my name on Transifex, it's not a new italian contributor. I already was on Transifex, but I only joined the italian translation group today. Today I just looked at, and I think to add or modify something in some weeks.

Gondwana is out, this is time to speak about our work and some people started to do it for us! Thanks to DistroWatch we'll reach 20,000 CD downloaded for our first birthday and more than 75,000 visitors, much much more than any expectation I had one year ago :). I'd like to thank all the people who participated to this success and helped offering 15 and soon 18 languages. The future of our project looks bright! All the best, JM. PS: if you think that I forgot to mention an important news, feel free to answer this mail with your scoop! Team ===== * This week 5 new contributors proposed to help the project for translations: - Sas asked to start Hungarian - Tiagom asked to start Portuguese - Joe asked to start Danish - Kvisitor started to help Greek - Sostenibilista requested to help Italian They're almost all already at work: welcome to our project! * I received a CD jacket drawn by a Russian (Sergey, another one :) ). Unfortunately he's using Corel Draw file formats, which makes communication difficult :(. Organization =========== * We're too gossip on this list, I cannot tell our contributors to subscribe the *low* trafic dev list anymore ;). So I decided to split the flow into more mailing lists (see https://mail.gna.org/public/doudoulinux-dev/2011-06/msg00067.html). For example I'd like translators to subscribe a list that just tells ?Hey, there's something new to translate? so that, even if they don't want to really take part to the project, they won't be annoyed by other topics. Of course we'd prefer that they finally take more part to the project! Please *register* to your lists of interest as soon as possible so that we can switch the traffic to these dedicated lists :). * Redmine : there are still tickets to be moved from our former project management software Gna. Please move the tickets you're owning, unless they're history is huge. Translations ============ * Many translations were submitted on Transifex for Danish, Greek, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese and Swedish (Joe, Kvisitor, Sas, Filar, Tiagom and Lars). Good work guys! * I plan to build an update of Gondwana during summer to update languages that require it, especially newly started languages :). Note that I figured out that we can put our mailing list address in the page of each language team on Transifex. I did it so nobody can tell that (s)he doesn't know where to get support anymore :). Note that I also filled the URL for our translation documentation on our project page, still on Transifex. CDROM ====== * I tagged the new release in our code management software SVN and created a branch 1.0 for Gondwana. * I rebuilt the 6 demonstration language on a Gondwana basis, to be published tomorrow morning officially. * I also built our very first Danish and Hungarian CD (see http://download.doudoulinux.org/dailybuild/). * G?rald is still getting information on how to port DDL to ARM. I started to look at moving to Debian Squeeze. Graphics ======== * OCAL contest: I think we should end it this week, or the week after, before the summer holidays. Richard and Benheng, remember that you are supposed to select with me 10 candidates for logos and 10 for mascots (see http://openclipart.org/ddl_contest). Website ======= * New Italian articles: ?Filtro famiglia?, ?Tradurre il sito web in un'altra lingua?, ?Contattateci? and ?Ottenere DoudouLinux?. Great job Salvatore! * News on the road (Elisa) to announce the translation work that is starting for Danish, Hungarian and Portuguese! Few words about website stats. This week we had 9,000 visitors instead of 2,000 the week before! Concerning downloads, 1 TB of CD's have been downloaded in 2 small days. I attached the download stats figures that I made just *before* the DistroWatch rush. The first one is the total number of downloaded CD's, month per month. The second one is the number of CD's per language. Russian is now the top 1 download: which one will be the top one for the DDL anniversary? Communication ============= * DistroWatch told about us (see http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=06734). Our website jumped from ~250 visitors/day to 3000! Of course there have been many entries on the web following the DistroWatch news: in Bulgarian, Chinese, English(!), French, Indonesian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, etc. * Surfing on the DistroWatch wave (most popular samples): - an English news on the famous Linux Today (see http://www.linuxtoday.com/developer/2011061900341NWRL) - a Spanish article on UbuntuTips (see http://www.ubuntips.com.ar/2011/06/18/doudoulinux-1-0-una-distro-para-que-los-mas-pequenos-se-inicien-en-linux/) - a Russian article on OpenNet (see http://www.opennet.ru/opennews/art.shtml?num=30913) - a Chinese news on OS China (see http://www.oschina.net/news/18937/doudou-linux-1-0-released) * I updated our page on Freshmeat (see http://freshmeat.net/projects/doudoulinux). * I saw a new video on Youtube, not so interesting indeed at first glance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0B6EgVX-_M Support ======= No news. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
