http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00073.html The purpose of his mail was to highlight the fact that our translations seem more completed than upstream projects, using Kgeography as an example. Having installed Kanagram one year ago, he also remembers to not have seen it 100% translated as it is on our CD :). So his question was: do you send your translation work upstream? And then you know the answer: hem, depends, hem, depends on whether some good guy thinks to contribute to the upstream projects and sends his work. Sadly it rarely happens and our work does not often contribute to our parent projects :(. Elisa answered him this and stressed that we've also been looking for someone to do this job for a long time without success, and he may be the man we've been waiting for so long! As his positively answered to Elisa's offer: welcome Christophe to our project! Your role will be to regularly send the work of our numerous contributors (> 60) in 26 languages to our parent projects. This means you have to contact each upstream project and discuss the best way to contribute back. This topic should also be discussed at an IRC meeting of Debian derivatives next week. Note nonetheless that we've already contacted few projects: * Stopmotion, at least Marian and Joe sent their translations * Childsplay, Sergey and maybe Marian sent their translations * Pysycache, Marian sent his translations As far as I'm concerned, I'm in touch with several French authors for: * Pysycache * Gamine * Songwrite * GCompris Songwrite does not use standard PO files so you cannot send him the TransiFex version. Anyway I gained write access to Songwrite SVN so I can send translations by myself directly to the upstream source code :). Pysycache is using plain text files, so you need to grab them from our SVN repository. GCompris is using a Gnome translation repository (I have to find the mail I received from the author about this topic). I recommend you to read our translation section on our website: http://www.doudoulinux.org/web/english/contribute/translate-doudoulinux/index.html There are applications that require plain text files to be translated or created from scratch (list of words for Kanagram or Khangman for example). These files cannot be fetched from Transifex yet.
