Hi Saros developers, in today's stand-up meeting we shortly discussed the process of submitting approved patches from Gerrit to our "official" repository. We distinguished two scenarios: (1) Normally the Gerrit group of "Approved Users" is allowed to submit a patch, that had been reviewed and approved. (2) During a release process, only the designated Release Manager is allowed to do so.
Are there any comments so far? Our release process intends to create a release branch on which the (potentially) necessary fixes are to be applied, hence one of the last steps of the process consists in merging the fixes back into the master branch. Git offers more than one possible way to accomplish this. Since the current release's primary goal is to explore the possibilities of Git in a "real-world scenario", Release Manager Holger will try something new (after the bugfixes are pushed, reviewed, approved and submitted, of course) and I'm excited to hear his reports :). The merging in general, as it happens to be a patch too, will also be performed by the Release Manager.
