Category: Interface (example) Group: None >Status: Closed >Resolution: Fixed Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: IE6 cumulative patch breaks search bar Initial Comment: I installed the IE6 cumulative patch for my XP Home, and when I rebooted, I got two script error messages. Here they are: Line: 229 Char 7 Error: Unspecified error. Code: 0 URL: file://C:\Program Files\Quick Search Deskbar\search.htm Line: 779 Char: 3 Error: 'gowidth' is undefined Code: 0 URL: file://C:\Program Files\Quick Search Deskbar\search.htm After that, the search bar is gray-colored, and isn't clickable. I think it is the IE6 patch that did it. It seems that way when looking at what the patch was 'sposed to fix and line 229, and the fact that the problem happened the 1st reboot after the patch. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Shawn K. If I am prepared to wait about two minutes, everything unfreezes by itself, or if I am impatient, I can use the task manager to kill the explorer.exe and restart it. I use automatic update which installs several patches each week so I am not sure which patch has caused the problem, I have experienced exactly the same problem on my PC at work which also has XP Pro and uses the automatic update system. I tried uninstalling some patches using the control panel but it did not fix the problem.
