in your local preferences do you have showbutton set? It may be that it's still at the default of 2 (only show if search bar is greater than clocklongwidth. Try setting it to 1.

OK I figured it out. Because I have 3 monitors when the task bar is on the bottom in its standard position its way too wide, I can hardly reach over to get to the Quick Launch. >> works with Dave's. But  I have the task bar set vertically on the left side of the screen and in that case the >> is not at the bottom of the search window. Bug?
