"Abigail! Abby, come here!"

The sky was still a somber, swirling grey from the storms the night before.
The air was crisp, and the sun was just a rising golden ball in the
distance, promising to chase away the clouds and pierce through the
lingering fog. A rolling wind tugged and pulled over the sea's surface,
urging each wave into a frothy peak before it crashed and broke upon the
rocky beach.

"Abigail!" a piercing whistle caught the dog's attention. Her body tensed,
and sharp blue eyes glanced back. Her pink tongue lolled from the side of
her mouth, and her sharp pointed ears twitched. She gave a short bark, and
snorted before spinning about and scratching at the rock beneath her once
more.

"Damn dog," Reya muttered beneath her breath, affectionately, and with a
tiny smile for her words. None of the little ones at the orphange had ever
heard her curse, and somehow, she always felt the tiny thrill of freedom
when she did. "What have you gotten yourself into now?"

She trotted along the sandy, rock littered beach towards the narrow
outcropping of stone that reached partway out into the frothy morning surf.
She tugged her short jacket tightly about her willowy form, as the wind
pulled at her woolen skirt and tugged her thick, copper braid, whipping it
back over her slim shoulder. Carefully, Reya picked her way onto the rocky
outcropping, watching where she placed her feet, and stepping over puddles
still left from last night's rain.

"Come here," she tried to make her voice sound enthusiatic, though her teeth
chattered as the mist from the breaking waves lightly moistened her face,
"Let me see." The dog, a beautiful shaggy grey and white wolf mix was
finally obediant, backed away and sat down.

Reya knelt next to Abigail, affectionately scratching her ear as she
carefully strectched a pale hand forwards to pick through the mud and
pebbles to find what had so bothered her dog. "What's this?" she murmured
beneath her breath as fingertips caught a golden chain and pulled the
talisman attached from the ground. She frowned lightly and turned the golden
disk in her hand, her thumb tracing the beautiful artwork of the twin
serpent, each biting the other's tail, and she turned it over.. "Corwyn Fy..
I wonder what this means.." she murmured to herself as she stood. "Come on,
Abby," she patted her thigh as she turned and began to walk back up along
the beach, Abigail right behind her.
