(Bleh... It's a post.)

"Oh! Y' shoulda seen it, Rey!"

"Zoom! Right over our heads!"

"It musta been a thousand miles long! It was huge! It was gigantimous!"

"What was it, Jin?" Reya laughed, kneeling as the young boy ran across the
room. His feet thumping against the old wood floor, his skinny arms
stretched wide to wrap tightly about her neck in a hug.

"I don' know. It was huge!" he exclaimed, bouncing excitedly.

"It was, Weya... I couldn't see the sun!" another boy piped up in awe,
shorter then the first, and Jin's junior by at least a year. He broke off in
broken giggles as Abigail, a beautiful grey and white husky, licked his
face. Always good and careful with the children, she nudged her cold nose
under the young boys hand.

"You couldn't?" Reya released Jin, and smiled affectionately at Del. "That
-is- big," she rose from her crouch and stepped towards the other boy as she
patted Abby's back.

"Mm hm," Del nodded, bobbing his head until his chin touched his chest.
"Miss Laramie was real upset, I think she was scared," his brown eyes went
large, "I think she was scared."

"She was!" Jin stated loudly, puffing out his small chest and coming to
stand beside them. "So scared she dropped her purse and started dragging us
back home. But I saw it, and picked it up before anyone could steal it."

"Thank you, Jin," Reya smiled at the boy, "I'm very proud of you." He stood
a bit taller and prouder at that. "Now both of you... Do you think you could
help make sure the others are all washed up and ready for dinner?"

"Sure!" Del piped in before Jin, the younger boy grabbing his arm and
pulling him after him down the hall.

Reya shook her head, watching the two boys scrambling down the hall with
Abigail trotting at their heels. She dropped her hands upon her slim hips
and spun about on her heel. It was nearly suppertime, and Miss Laramie would
need her help. The woman was like a mother to her, and to many of the other
children. Fifteen of them at any given time. Miss Laramie was a blessing to
the orphange. She could run the place on her own if need be.

Reya glanced towards the cracking ceiling, and noticed a few splintering
floorboards as she walked through the aging house. This wasn't the only
orphange in Mysthaven, and it was likely the smallest. Reya had grown up
here herself, and simply never left. Miss Laramie became her mother, and the
orphange became her home. Now she helped out as much as she could.

"What was this about a dragon?" Reya pushed open the door to the kitchen,
reaching to pull an apron from the hook near the door and pull it over her
head.

"Dagon? Wha?" Miss Laramie was a short woman, and a tad plump. Her cooking
was wonderful, and her smile cheery. Right now she was distracted as she
pulled a pair of loaves of bread from the stone oven above the kitchen
hearth. Her hair was almost fully grey and crows feet wrinkled at the
corners of her eyes.

"The kids are going on about something flying and blocking out the sun in
town today," Reya leaned against a table and lifted her slim shoulders in a
loose shrug. "I could only assume it was a dragon," she said calmly,
shifting as she slipped a hand into a pocket.

"Dragons, smagons... You read too much, Rey," Miss Laramie shook her graying
head as she plopped the fresh baked loaves onto a plate.

"What would you say it was then?" Reya chuckled, drawing the gold talisman
from her pocket and turning it in her hands. "Did I show you what I found
the other day?" she pushed off from the wooden table and stepped towards the
other woman, "Did it look like one of these?" Etched on the golden disk was
a pair of serpents, each biting the other's tail.

"Oh, I couldn't tell, Reya," she paused long enough to look at the pendant
as she wiped flour from her hands off on her apron, "But I bet that would
fetch a nice price. You could get a new dress, and we could thatch the roof.
Maybe even fix the casement on those windows upstairs."

"Sell it?" Reya looked at the other woman, her hand closing around it
quickly. "I couldn't just do that. This might belong to someone.. it might
be important.."

"It would put a roof over our head," the old woman said simply, hefting a
tray of food and looking at the younger girl pointedly, "Come now.. the kids
are hungry," she nodded her head towards the swinging door just as she
nudged her way through.

"I'll be right there," Reya replied quietly, her grey eyes fixed on the
talisman as she turned it in her hand, her finger tracing the words etched
into it. 'Corwyn Fy' .. She frowned quietly as she tucked it safely away,
back in her skirts, and moved to help with serving supper.
