Gerhardt Menan dipped his quill again in the inkwell and scrawled his
usually closing to the letter that stood before him on his shabby,
paper-ridden desk. Setting the feather down, the Lord Marshall of Myst
blew on the ink to dry it, then ran his eyes over the words quickly...

To the Good People of Myst,

True to my word, I will not stand inpropriety amonsgt the ranks I hold
leadership over. Since filling this position, I have made it my first
priority to rout out those Guards of Myst who have either taken the law
into their own hands, broken the law, or twisted the law to their own
 purposes.

 Vathan Darkaxe - Mysthaven
 Toril Ni`zor - Mysthaven
 Carine Ander - Mysthaven

 Captain Rue Denali - Brookshire
 Panthomier Kreel - Brookshire
 Nimara Wolfskill - Brookshire

 Ciyan Raile - Kishant

 Otto the Swift

The above have broken their oaths to protect Myst, and therefore they
shall be cast out. My regiment has no room for those who can not be true
to their word. They are hereby cast out of the Royal Mystonian Guards.
Some will argue with me that mere banishment is not punishment enough, but
I prefer that people such as the likes of these live with the title
Oathbreaker for years to come rather than die and be forgotten quickly.

Let their fate serve as a warning to the rest. Those who break their oath
to the Isle will -not- remain in charge of its protection.

 I remain your servant,

 Gerhardt Menan
 Lord Marshall
 Mystonian Royal Guard

...he nodded in approval of his own writing and then picked up the letter.
The Lord Marhsall opened the door and found Bennot and one of his other
attendants sitting and having a discussion of something. The both jumped
up and snapped to attention as he appeared, and Menan shook a dismissing
finger as Bennot jumped for the letter he held out.

"I have another task for you." he said simply, handing it to the other
attendant--Gelar was his name? Perhaps? "Take this down to be copied. I
want it posted on every public building in the city immediately. Copies
are to be sent to Kishant and Brookshire and the same done there as well.
Now, Gelar."

The man didn't wait around long enough to ask why the Lord Marshall called
him 'Gelar'...that was good enough as a name for now. Off he went, and
Gerhardt turned back into his offices, motioning Bennot to follow.

"Shut the door." he said, picking up another parchment--dry, as it had
been written last night--and placing it into a black leather folder. There
was a moment of silence as the Lord Marshall sealed it with wax, and then
held it to Bennot with a stern look.

"Denali is still in his cell, aye?" a nod from the attendant make his
mouth turn upward in a faint smile, "He is to be released, stripped of
rank and privilege, and given this before being removed from the
Guardhouse."

"What is it, Sir?" Bennot asked as his hand curled over the folder.

"Nothing. In fact, you never saw it." he replied, a tone of finality in
his voice.

"Saw what, Sir?" came the reply before Bennot opened the door and
disappeared to attend to the duty given him.

Gerhardt huffed a sigh then and all but collapsed in his chair. He'd not
slept last night. His appointments were light this day. Perhaps he could
get away with a bit of rest in here before the next wave hit.

Best to rest now, he thought. Once Denali opened that folder, he'd get very
little rest indeed...

((And that's that. Donna's got the plan. I unfortunately am disappearing to
Oklahoma for about 10 days. I will not be back until the 11th of February,
and I don't expect to have access to the Net until I get back. Take care
all ^^))

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKLAHOMA!
