"Greetings all you grubball fans out there and
welcome to this special, Monday Edition of Grubball Tonight. We have a
great recap for you on the games that went on yesterday and even late last
night. A couple of nailbiters once again as defense seems to be thrown out
the window this year and full-fledged shootouts have taken over. I am Dern
Arnak and with me as always, Westin Tarbral, former forschbowler for the
Hornath-ul-Marfed team as well as a couple others. Our game of the week,
Gessihorna at Mhernettla to tangle with the Korthai and it was everything that
grubball fans could hope for. Before we get to that, however, let's get to
scores from the rest of the day's games.
DA: "In Angelsin, the thundering Hornathians
looking to stay undefeated on the season behind the superior, nay Godlike play
of All-Star hinterplodder, Kylus of the North. After two games, he already
has 4 points going into Angelsin and was looking for more. However,
Angelsin had other plans and scored a quick point right off the start, Gorben
Pexmun on the pass from Kip the Frail. Of course, Angelsin then lapsed
into a coma that lasted until the fifth quinting when Edwin the Champion finally
connected on a pass to Gorben Pexmun who tallied his second point of the
night. A moral victory for Angelsin was keeping Kylus of the North from
scoring as he had only an assist in tonight's game. Kalen the Wily scored
twice and Sarek Covell scored once, adding 19 kills as well. Yarnot and
Tred the Lazy each had 24 kills. Hornath remains undefeated, winning by a
final tally of 5-2.
DA: "To Arankeep, where futility is quickly
becoming the most common word associated with the team. A bright note, Nol
the Red scored in the second quinting, giving Arankeep two points in the
season. Not so bright note, Millabratel scored 5 times that, Valknandra
the Fair with two helpers as Millabratel wins, 5-1. Strom the Bold had 38
kills.
DA: "The City by the Darian...Drache. Last
game they were stretched to 6 quintings and tonight, it was no different.
Bralk Lakrath came to play and play they did. It was fifth quinting
heroics again for the Dracheans, Urcelon scoring late in the fifth and later,
the game-winner in the sixth, both on passes from Sir Den Bedwyre 'and
Breakfast.' Mutry had one assist with 21 kills. On the flipside, it
was Hornung the Quick that scored two points for Bralk Lakrath, Marnuth the
Regular and Arget ul-Tamad each with two helpers. Kenglith Mintraslim had
19 kills, but once again, it was Kota the Wolf in the final quinting that helped
Drache. 46 kills on the night, 11 in the 6th quinting including two that
Westin, I don't know how he got the kills."
WT: "Never underestimate this kid, and I do say
kid. He is only 24 which by some standards, is still quite young compared
to many others that he plays against. Many times he was out of position
for passes, but somehow came up with the kills when it counted. He is the
reason that Drache is still undefeated and his shoulders may be heavy by the end
of the season. Drache can score. No doubt about that as they are
second in the league in team points with 16. But, they need to stop the
other teams from scoring. They've been up against softer defenses lately
and it may come back to haunt them later on in the season."
DA: "The final in Drache, 6-5, Dracheans moving to
3-0 on the season and a tie for the top position. Next, Galanor at
Peraltok Valley. Bolk Sarktuka managed to tally 38 kills for the Valley,
but Korl the Unpleasant was a perfect 4 for 4 on opportunities tonight and
setting a personal record with 4 points. Alathar Quarflis had 31 kills for
Galanor who wins the game, 7-4.
DA: "MystHaven home at Molentia Circle against
bottom-feeder Tralazir. Protzl Noght scored first, his lone point of the
game and the lone point of the first quinting. However, the second and
third quintings belonged to the Islanders as Gorben the Smooth, the Ageless One,
scored twice and Anika 'the Goddess' Conrad added two points as well. She
would later score in the fifth quinting, giving her a career high 3 points
already in her short career. Jesiah Blanchard and Rue Denali each had a
pair of helpers on the night and despite giving up 5 points, MystHaven comes out
on top, 8-5. Ware the Vile had 28 kills.
DA: "To Hornath-ul-Marfed, where Ruthmarna United
was in town to take on Tagrana Memorial. Another high-scoring affair and
another personal best in the point column as Saemon had 3 points. Vale
Dorius added a pair and Del Nege had two assists. Roxina the Vague led all
players with 36 kills. The final, 8-4, Ruthmarna United the
winner.
DA: "Finally, to the Vale, Sivriana coming to town
to try and upset those Dire Sheep seen grazing in the distance. Morlan
scored two points for the visitors. Forg the Fartable and Devin Kellek
each had two assists, but it was to come up short. Fenduth Arnak had two
points, including the game winner. Tavin Kellek had a game-high 36 kills
in a losing effort. The final from the Vale, 6-5, SVU the
winner.
DA: "Now, to Mhernettla and our game of the
week. Gessihorna coming to town looking to take down the Korthai.
Ventzi Tarken was the first to get on the board as a second-quinting pass from
Brolk Vestuka put the Korthai on the board. Gessihorna would answer with a
pair of points and after the second quinting, the visitors led,
2-1.
DA: "Third quinting action, Kahrst and Jerethan
Vetask scored on back-to-back plays to give Mhernettla a 3-2 lead and the crowd
was loving it. Fenduth the 'People Are' Strange had a flawless quinting,
tallying 11 kills. Bralk Glostage added another point and the score was
4-2 after three quintings.
DA: "Gessihorna controlled the fourth quinting,
scoring twice to tie the game at 4. It remained that way until the fifth
quinting when Bralk Glostage scored his second point for the Korthai, giving
them a 5-4 lead midway through the fifth. But it was Elrich the Bearded
who would answer a couple minutes later, catching the long pass from Keltin
Haworth and tying the game at 5 with only a couple minutes to go.
Dilminth's Son would score a short while later on a game-winning pass from Dorn
the Cold as Gessihorna defeats the Korthai 6-5.
DA: "That is all for tonight, folks. Another
great night of grubball. Five teams still sit atop the standings
undefeated, though several are just a step behind. A little early to think
about postseason, but there is definite promise in quite a few teams this
year. We'll see you next time. For Westin Tarbral, I am Dern Arnak
bidding you a grubball evening. Good night, folks."
