(I'm no good at titles, but I suppose it's best to keep them all the same.)
~*~*~*~*~*~*~ She was feeling suffocated. At every turn it felt like there was another person inquiring how she was. 'How are you?', 'Are you alright?', 'Why don't you talk to us?', 'How is Flynn?' It was nearly enough to make her want to scream! ...If she had the energy to. She didn't have much energy for anything lately. For the most part she found she was sleeping in her spare time, or else just laying on her bed and staring at the ceiling. But there were now enough people always knocking on her door to see how she was that she needed to get away, now. Caelan Rainier's hands were curled into tight fists, her fingernails biting into her palms as she strode briskly into the castle stables. In what must be the first time in months, the young woman was found in breeches that hugged to her hips, and a pale blue tunic that fit her loosely. Her brown hair wasn't wound atop her head but left in a thick braid down the middle of her back. She walked down the center aisle of the stables, the lightest touch of a smile just starting to return to her lips. It's been a long time since she's been here. A long time since she's truly felt the need to get away and feel free. A long time since she'd seen her favorite mare. "Red..." Caelan breathed, her smile flickering further upon her lips like a flame fighting to stay lit. The horse whickered softly in recognition and stomped her foot as she shifted in her stable. A beautiful horse, her rich brown coat and mane seemed to have a copper sheen, giving her her name. "Want to go for a ride?" she rubbed the mare's nose as she unhooked the latch to the stable and stepped aside to swing open the door. "Y' look nice, Cael," a voice broke in, deep and rich. It startled her. She went rigid and instantly clenched her jaw. She almost felt violated, having believed that she was alone. Her slate blue eyes narrowed as they cut across the building to fix RE Jadrien Flynn with her accusing glare. His hands flew up instantly, "Hey... I'm sorry. I really do mean it though. I always thought this was a better look for you." One hand shifted through his dark blonde hair. He looked handsome in his black elite uniform, the jacket hanging open because of the humid heat. "Better then all of those dresses anyhow." She ignored him, looking away as she turned and began pulling the saddle from the wall. "You just don't seem that type. You're so much more simple. You'll get dirty, and joke just like any of the guys." As he continued, he came closer until he was pulling the tack down from the wall for her. "Flynn," Caelan stopped with her hands still on the saddle she threw over Red's back. "Stop," her eyes closed as she shook her head, "Just stop." More simple?! Just what did that mean? "Would you like some company? I could go for a ride," there was only a moments pause before he started in again, boldly stepping up beside her and helping ready her horse. "I'd rather be alone," she replied honestly, tightening a strap and tugging slightly upon the saddle to make certain that it was secure. "Are you sure?" he leaned a little bit closer. He stood a good head taller then her, and peered down with gorgeous hazel eyes. "You've been alone a lot. Company might do you some good, eh?" "No." "Besides, it's getting late. You really probably shouldn't go out like this on your own." "I've always done it before," she sighed, placing her foot in the stirrup. She bounced just a couple of times before pulling herself up into the saddle. "Doesn't mean you should keep doing it," Flynn held Red by the bit and stroked her nose. He was relentless. "No... but trust me," she bent slightly to fix him with such a look that dared him to object. Her braid fell over one shoulder. "I -don't- want company," she put as much emphasis on the word as she could. "Sure..." he released the bit and took a step back from them. "Sure, Cael." "Thank you," she muttered grudgingly as she pulled gently upon the reigns. With a click of her tongue she began to lead Red from the stables. If she had glanced behind her, she would have seen Flynn move for another horse. ~*~*~*~*~ Sarah _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com -- To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives & Other DMI Lists: http://islesofmyst.com/lists.php3
