Suldio was jumbled up in a burlap sack, which was
rather uncomfortable. His joints were indefinately
flexible and there no came no pain with having his
femur crammed into the back of his skull, but it was
just mentally disturbing and somewhat degrading for
him. He was supposed to have form, more than just a
bag of bones!
Suldio felt himself mixing up again as his friend
Jaref Thoran switched the sack from one shoulder to
the other. His skull was on the bottom of the sack
this time with various small hand and foot bones
rattling around in his eye sockets.
"Aye, Sully," muttered Jaref under his breath,
"You're getting heavier and heavier." Jaref's voice
was wheezing a bit.
"You ought to rest," observed Suldio.
"Ditch that," puffed Jaref, "I want to get this over
with. Where's this stupid toe again?"
"Just a few more finters down this road, I'd
imagine," Suldio said as he shook his head to force
the small bones out of his eye sockets, "Look, I'm
sorry about your brother, I really am, but If I don't
find my toe soon I'll go completely mad. I can *feel*
it out there, buried in the cold ground, don't you
understand? I've felt it under there since I lost it
and I've felt it as far away as Aslar, over the seas."
"Shut up," snapped Jaref, "I've heard this before.
And I'll have you know that my brother is more than
just my little toe to me, you understand? He's my
head and my hands and my arms and my heart, get it?"
Suldio was silent for a moment. Jaref was correct,
he had failed to see reason once again. That was
nearly as disturbing as feeling his ribs through his
pelvic bone. "Sorry, Jaref," he finally said, "I
guess it drives me mad sometimes, eh?"
"It's alright," Jaref said. He was silent for a
long time longer, save for his heavy breathing.
Suddenly Jaref stopped. "Oh hells," Jaref muttered
quietly in between his panting, "It's Rak."
   "What's a rak?" asked Suldio.
"It's the town of Rak over those hills," growled
Jaref, "The bloody TOWN of Rak. Someone's bound to
come around here. How close are we now?"
"Less than a finter, I'm sure," Suldio replied.
"What do you mean, less than a finter?" snapped
Jaref, "The town is right *there*, nearly 30 fects
down."
"Oh hell," grumbled Suldio, "My toe is more than 30
fects away, I'm sure."
"Oh bloody hell," snarled Jaref as he violently
switched shoulders again, "Lets bloody go and bloody
look for a bloody inn so we can find your bloody toe. Gods."
