The road to Alcornal was long - much longer than the thief had thought it would be when she'd originally set out on foot in her daring plan to conquer the town. The nights were dark and cool, the perfect time for walking along quiet roads, and the woods that occasionally sprouted alongside the path provided the perfect cover for hiding if she needed to do so. Yet each dawn when she searched for a good place to curl up unseen to sleep away the day, she questioned the wisdom of her decision. Discounting the few berries that she rustled up during her sojourns into the forest, food was nonexistent and water was a priceless commodity. How far had Kylie and Vash said it was to Alcornal? It felt like forever.

Kylie and Vash. The thought of the pair of them brought a smile to the tired little thief's lips as she trudged along, trying to remember everything they'd told her about the evil that lurked in the dark. Kindred, they'd said. Don't travel in the night, they'd said. Be careful of the vampiric undead, they'd said. While she hadn't out-and-out scoffed at their words, she wasn't so sure that she'd been able to keep the skepticism from her pert features. There was no such thing as kindred! Mind you, she mused to herself as she stopped to stretch her weary legs, if things continued on as they were at the moment, she might be enticed into biting someone for nourishment.

Still chuckling as she rounded the bend in the road, Carinda Chassis saw Alcornal sprawling in the distance and she let out a huge whoop of delight. If rumours were true the town was all but guardless, which meant that in a few days she might have a haul that would not only keep her fed for a month, but would enrich the MystHaven orphanage too! Spirits revived with her journey's end in sight, the young woman tossed her knapsack over one shoulder and sprinted for the outskirts of the town.

She'd find a place to wash up, don her tourist's garb and ply her trade - It was time to get to work.
