Oh, did he ever upset her this time. But never had he more wanted to smooth
those ruffled feathers. She was attractive when she was angry. There was a
hint of that fire that he knew was in her, but it had been smothered as of
late. He wasn't usually so irritating. At least he didn't believe so. He
just enjoyed getting a rise out of her because of how much it brought her
out of her depression. It was an odd approach, finding out how angry he
could make her. Eventually he hoped that she had no choice but to give in.

The wind rushed past his ears and his jacket whipped out behind him. He laid
low on his stallion and urged it faster as he laughed out loud. "I'll catch
you yet!" he cried though knew she couldn't hear him. He could see her
racing ahead, her pale blue tunic rippling behind her in the wind a contrast
to the rich brown mare.

The two of them raced across the countryside, over rolling hills dotted with
green trees. The sun had been a bright orange ball on the horizon when they
had left the castle, him following at a good distance behind, leaving her
the room that she had desired. He followed at a slow pace, watching her as
the sun set, her slender shadowed form against the red orange light. He
believed that she was capable, and likely didn't require an escort, but the
man was persistant and saw a challenge in following her. Gradually he had
come closer until chance had her glancing behind and spotting him. Like an
arrow she shot ahead, and he was soon racing in pursuit.

The sun had nearly set, and the world was now cast in shades of grey, and
dusk. Farther and farther away from the castle they went, sometimes rounding
back, and othertimes back away. Caelan was an experienced rider, and she was
trying to loose him, without doubt. If she had not been so experienced Flynn
would have caught up to her some time ago with his much faster stallion.

The wind felt good, but he was starting to tire and he hoped that she was
beginning to tire as well. It was becoming dark very quickly and it becoming
more and more difficult to see her form ahead.

"Caelan!" he tried to call out, his throat dry and his voice cracked. "Slow
down!"

Why wouldn't he leave her alone?! She wanted to scream sometimes, or at
least knock some sense into him. Literally. If she had a moment alone, and
enough guts to do so, maybe a punch in the nose would do him some good.

Caelan dug her heels in and bent low as she clutched to the reigns. She'd
been riding hard for some time now, and though Red was starting to become
lathered with sweat, the mare was still full of energy and enjoying the
exercise. With both her knees and the reigns she steered them towards a
loose cropping of trees. She had to be able to loose him in there.

"Leave me alone!" she cried back at him. Why was it that everyone that she
wanted attention from ignored her, and everyone that she wished would stay
away wouldn't let her be? When was the last time she spoke to Janessa? Or to
Fox? ...Sometime before the trip to Aleisia she figured. Maybe something
more has happened since Jan's engagement. If that was the case, then maybe
she didn't want to speak with them.

She gritted her teeth and spurred her horse around the trees, uncaring of
the low branches that bit at her arms. The more she turned in on herself,
the more paranoid thoughts flitted through her mind. Frustration bubbled up
in her throat and made it difficult to breathe. It would account for their
growing distance from her. Both of them know for her feelings for Fox, but
that wasn't going to stop Jan. Oh, no... she always got whatever she wanted.
She didn't care who was in her path, or who she hurt.

The girl was a wreck. An emotional mess. Tears stung in her eyes and rolled
down her cheeks as she rode on, blurring her vision. She kept herself low
and trusted Red to find her way through the trees as she loosened one hand
from the reigns to wipe futiley at her eyes.

And that was her mistake. She didn't see the furry creature that skittered
across the path, and she didn't have enough of a hold to keep her seat when
her horse reared back. She cried out in shock as she was thrown. She hadn't
noticed how dark it had become since she had left the castle, but now the
darkness was closing in on her.

Darkness, all consuming, unforgiving. It paralyzed her. Ever since she was
found in the castle's very gardens, she's had an unexplainable fear of it.
Apparently she had been taken, kidnapped... but her memory had been wiped
clean of the events from before she was taken until that morning she was
found weak and horribly sick. She still couldn't fathom what anyone had
wanted with her, but she often found herself wondering about what had been
done with her. The possibilities were endless, and her imagination too
vivid. Just like the darkness around her, there could be anything hidden in
it's depths.

She hurt. She couldn't fully sense where she was, or get her bearings. Her
ankle stung and ached, and it felt like blood was trickling from her elbow.
But nothing compared to the fact that she could hardly see the hand before
her face.

"Help!" she cried, and coughed as something fell past her lips. It was dry
and broke on her tongue. She spat it out. "Help me!" Her heart was racing,
and it wouldn't slow. Her breath ragged in her ears. Her unnatural, and
unexplainable fear was strangling her.
