For those interested, I have posted a picture of a knob I re-did with steel wool, Brasso liquid, and a Black & Decker drill. Spinning the knob on a 1/4" shaft, first lightly against steel wool...then finally with Brasso liquid and wool cloth, I got pretty decent results. Although I don't have a before picture of the knob, it was totally worn smooth and was dull from years of use. It had no shine or sparkle...

Inside my knob is inscribed 'Rogan Bros...Skokie, Ill' with the S in Skokie written backwards... Maybe they have some NOS inserts?
