Hello group - I thought I would clean up an old Drake T-4X that I have had in storage for a few years. During the process of cleaning it up I discovered that the tuning radius of the rig seems to have been screwed up somehow.
We all know that there is a maximum top frequency that this transmitter can use, and that there is a metal pin on the VFO that stops the device from tuning any higher (this is good - lol). However, for some reason, my T-4X tunes up past the 1.000 on the dial just fine and then stops - but it will only tune down to about .985 and then stops. I don't want to force the VFO past that point for fear I might break something. I have looked at the VFO gears and the do not seem to be excessively dirty, so I am wondering what might be causing this VFO to no longer have the tuning radius it once had. Any ideas?
