The old cliche was that if you want to find it you want a Collins and if you want to listen to it you want a National. If beautiful AM was my desire then I would go for the National of the Hammarlund. That being said, my R4 (not A not B certainly not C) sounds very nice when tuned to an AM SWBC station. My standards are low, I would not want anything better and when it comes to digging up SSB and CW DX it competes very well with my buddy's IC-751A.
