"Floyd Sense" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang

Well, I searched the world via Google for the MRF476 last evening and had some success. First, here is what I found with some of the sources suggested by list members:

1. American Microsemiconductor: They had one (and only one in stock) for $13.70, but a minimum order of $25 plus handling and shipping.

2. Dan's Small Parts: They have them on sale at 2 for $6, but no phone orders, no way to know if the part is in stock, no credit cards, no Paypal, money orders only. That's the way my grandpa ordered from Sears early in the 20th century.

I found the MRF476 listed at a few sites, but with a note that the manufacturer had discontinued it. I ordered one MRF476 from Communications Concepts, Inc. (in Ohio) for $5.10 this morning. They have no minimum, take credit cards, telephone orders and you can query them about stock via email. Prices in general are lower than Rfparts - matched pair of MRF475s for $24, for example.

Here's another source: Ham Radio India Shopping Mall. They will ship an MRF476 to you via airmail from India for $15. There's a minimum $30 order, which you can circumvent by giving them an extra $5.00. That puts them at the same price as Rfparts (if Rfparts had the transistor) before you pay shipping. The owner of this site told me that he bought 50 of the MRF476s from Rfparts (!) on his last trip to the USA.

I hope this info is useful to the next guy searching for this transistor!

Subject: [drakelist] Transistors for TR7

I ordered a couple of transistors for my TR7 yesterday and got a call from RFPARTs today telling me they no longer carry the MRF476 that's used in the predriver board. I checked all the other usual sources (Mouser, Digikey, Allied, Newark) and had no luck finding one. Anyone know of another source for the Motorola transistors?
