Kevin LaHaie <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang
----------------------------------------------------------------------
First, a big thanks to the many off-list replies to my problem.

I used the radio on the air today, and it is happy and working!

Two things were significant:

1. An erratic RF trimmer on the 20 meter band (Of course the first one I was trying to get running!) Are these still available someplace? I may need one. 2. A DRAMATIC improvement in stability after LOOSENING AND TIGHTENING THE SCREWS. That tidbit of advice you won't find in the manual. THANKS to the list replies for that!

After that, it was pretty easy, using a frequency counter to measure the crystal frequency and vfo frequency to determine the frequency I needed to see at the input of the mixer, then seeing that on the grids of the finals. Good advice too to listen an adjacent receiver to hear when you were getting 'in the zone'.

I have now completed the entire alignment, carrier balance, neutralizing finals, and adjusting the tranceive operation.

Next, I will be going through the R4B, but it is acting pretty much 'right on', just want to peak the receive a little.

Last Question: is there still a Drake net on the air? I have seen reference to 7.238 on Sundays at 20:00z - is that still on?

Best 73, and look for my R4B questions next!
