Hi Evan and Drakelist, I am using a single
3-500z amplifier, the L75. I did have one occasion of desoldering of the
socket-pin of the filament, I think it was the most inward located pin.. It happened one year ago
and I simply resoldered it. I am using it almost every weekend on 40m CW and
it worked flawlessly ever since! What I noticed is that
the fault was first intermittent and in the end the tube simply remained dead. The
pin became VERY hot though, that is the way I discovered it. VY 73, Dick PA2DW Van:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]t] Namens [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fellow enthusiasts, I'm trying to collect user experiences regarding 3-500Z
tube failures with the Drake L-7 linear amplifier. Specifically, I'd like
to know if you've had a single tube failure, the one toward the centerline of
the chassis NOT the one in the corner. Further, I'd like to know if the
filament has "opened" or if the lead from the envelope, to the socket
pin, has become desoldered; this pin is the one closest to the rear apron of
the chassis. Thanks and 73, Evan Check out AOL.com today.
