I don't know how "pure" this is, but I took the amplifier (really an impedance matching buffer with some gain) out of the circuit and connected the D104 through a 470 K series resistor directly to the Hi-Z (i.e. high output) pin on the TR7. Got great reports on it, one local liked the sound better than the Sure 444 that I usually use. If you Google for D104 info, you will find that the mic element likes an extremely high load impedance. ISTR that in my configuration, it's looking at in the neighborhood of a megohm all told, and this tends to mellow the sound out and give it a more pleasing tone. Saves money on batteries, too. AFAIK, limiting the mic to 4 KHz would have no benefit with the TR7, the crystal filter pretty well takes care of anything above 3.... 73 -Jim (mic preamps are evil) -- Jim Shorney -->.<--Put complaints in this box jshorney (at) inebraska.com Ham Radio NU0C Lincoln, NE, USA EN10ps http://incolor.inetnebr.com/jshorney/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Submissions: [email protected] Unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net ----------------------------------------------------------------------
