"Bob Donnell" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Reminds me of my first Field Day - our novice station was comprised of a 2A and a 2NT, and every crystal we could get everyone to bring in. All of us such green hams that it took us about 2 hours to figure out that a (probably very frustrated by then) VE7 had been calling us - we had 6 or 7 listeners crowded into the trailer. We all kept copying the call as WN7! Unfortunately, the experience with the 2A was a let-down - it'd been donated to the club as the result of a sequence of folks that couldn't figure out why it was pretty deaf. I didn't either, back in 1972, but in about 1976, got to hear a 2B connected to a fair antenna (not as good as the vee beam we used at FD nor the beams that the club had) and that really told me that the 2A had problems.
