Carl,
I am guessing that with the AC4 board, your AC3 no longer has the test
point that mine did (if your had it at all). On some of the AC3s, there
is a test point and a (I think) 10 ohm power resisitor. The test point is
always grounded, unless you want to set the bias on the tubes. When you
want to set the bias on the tubes, you lifed the test point ground strap,
and measured the voltage to ground across the resistor. That voltage was
directly proportional to the current. I would have loved to see that
added to the AC4R replacement board, but it was out before I though about
saying anything.
Since I sold my TR3, I can not describe it better. I think I still have
photos here somewhere. I also know I have a copy of my manual which
describes the process and has the schematics. I wish Drake had continued
that test point ont the AC3s as that makes the bias adjustment process a
no brainer.

After more reading I have to check the meter resistor to verify, ergo
correct bias voltage adjustment....if its not one thing its another.
