Antenna restrictions in new and old communities are beginning to determine how we all can get on the air. It used to be that you could move out of the restrictions with no problems, but, at least where I live, it is not possible. The banks require the builders to have an HOA to get their loans from the banks, and the banks all want them to have an HOA in the new development to protect their loans. The builders go to the state website, which has an HOA agreement that prohibits antennas because they do not want anything to "decrease the value of the homes in the development." What this means is, you can not finance any home without the covenants because the loan officers believe that it is a big risk if the home is not in an area that has an HOA. Therefore, we all need to understand that unless we are lucky enough to have located into an area that did not yet require these restrictions, and intend to stay there for the rest of our lives, we will probably have a problem with the restrictions in our future. I like to have an antenna on the end of my Drake, and my Icom, and all the rest of my radios that glow in the dark as well as my rice boxes.
