Oh sure there was (is). The earliest TR-4C manual that I have, defined as having photos of a "C" included as well as a "C" schematic is s/n 35161, with photos of s/n 34049 inside. The most visible difference between the late 4 and early 4C is the rear panel with the holes for the VHF/UHF mod, over the previously "open" area, much the same as the C-Line receivers and transmitters had. There was a new manual cover for the TR-4CW, but it was the C manual with just a single sheet addendum for the CW filter added. There was also a new manual cover for the Cw/RIT, but again a C manual with TWO addendum sheets, one for the CW filter and another for the switching circuitry for the RIT. The PTO was also modified to convert the former "RTTY" tag on the side to an "RIT" tag. By that time most all RTTY was being done with AFSK anyway, so loss of the FSK terminal didn't matter. That same PTO with the RIT was then used in the R/TR-7 line.

Garey,
Doesn't come as a surprise...I'd heard there never was an "actual" TR4C manual
