"Jim Shorney" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang

I was testing the WV4 with my TR7 at 29 MHz, and noticed that the carrier
power (AM mode) would shoot up to around 60 watts, then fall off rapidly to
around 12 watts. I don't have a CW key hooked up ATM, so I was using AM mode
with the mic gain turned all the way down.

This suggests to me that one of those nasty three-legged silicon fuses is
heating up rapidly and possibly failing. Or maybe a PIN diode? Has anyone
seen this before as a problem, or is this just an artifact of abusing the AM
mode?
