No, the TR7 does not use controlled carrier AM. Even if it were so, the
carrier should stay where it was set with the carrier level control and not
fall off.  IIRC, the TR7 can (normally) be adjusted to nearly the full CW
carrier output on AM, without moulation.  If you want modulation, it needs to
be set considerably lower of course.

The 4-line, however, does use controlled carrier AM.
