To all, thanks for the help given me on the drakelist here. Garey's
suggestion to short the filters and listen to the calibrate signal on both
sidebands
did the trick. Shorting the filter got the rf flowing and listening to the
calibrate signal on both sidebands told me the 9 mhz signal was off frequency
a little.
So I aligned the 9 mhz signal so the calibrate signal sounded the same in
both sidebands and after that I could take the shorting lead off the filters
and
the signal passed thru OK. After that came a complete alignment job. The
radio now has 150+ watts output on 80, 40, and 20 meters and reduced output on
15 meters. The receiver sounds great! I still don't have anything out on ten
meters but I will get to that soon.
I just finished a QSO on 20m with it and the report was good. So thanks to
all who helped and to those who let me monopolize the list a bit yesterday
while searching for answers. I would still be looking without the help I
received.
