Al,

I'm sure lots of people will be interested in those knobs at Hamvention.?
Thanks for supporting the Drake enthusiasts.

No problem with email delays.? AOL deletes incoming and outgoing email and I'm
lucky to get anything, hi hi.? My L4Bs and L7s all behave the same in that the
red pointer is always within the thick area on the panel for all respective
bands.? I understand the "lack of calibration" you described.? However, I'm not
sure you're using the right calibration procedure.? What you should try is
getting the plate capacitor plates to full mesh, and then make sure the red
pointer is facing the 9 o'clock position.? But to do this, you have to make
sure the capacitor doesn't change position as the red pointer is being moved to
the correct position.

Other than that, I'm not sure what could be causing the same problem in two
amplifiers.? Please keep me posted, I'd like to learn from this.

73,

Evan

Hi Evan: Sorry I took so long to answer. On both of my amps, per the manual, I
loaded up the amp at 21.225? and held the knob and rotated the pointer to 15
meters. than I loaded up at 7.225 and the plate knob pointer on both amps was
to the left of the thick 40 meter rectangle, about half way between the 80 and
40 setting. Too bad I can't draw a picture.
What do you think? Where is the pointer on your amp?
