Another possibility is the Keystone 1453 shaft coupler. Mouser has them
for $1.92.
Brass coupler with 1/4" id hole, setscrews. Won't work on early T/TRs
with one-piece final cages (maybe) but should work fine on those with
removable top cover.
Pure rubber surgical tubing will work, but definitely has a limited
life. See older TR-7 dial friction bushings.
Heat shrink might work, especially if you put a piece of #14 or so wire
inside on the "flat" of the shaft before shrinking.
There is a heat shrink with a "flowable" material inside that conforms,
but might not be removable if you ever wanted to remove the cage!

Hi all,

spent over latest black box from hamvention Hang in there with me
Garey K4OAH I may get to work on that T4XB at 2 AM.; She hasn't
spotted that there are two other pieces......I think I'm in for a
rough summer.
Hamvention/Ebay
Funny, Day 1 of the Dayton Hamvention (Friday) there was a guy that
had a pair of L4B RF decks, no PS's. They were gone in hours, I know
one was short a tube, one was $300 the other $350 asking.
But in any case there is a person on Ebay (yes Evan!...Upay) right now
that has a pair of L4B decks only "fully working" buy it now for $450
or $550.
Coincidence ...? Condition ?
FWIW there was not a whole lot of used Drake stuff around...of the
older stuff it seemed to me more Heath, Hammerlund, and National.
....some Collins but ?
Ebay;
Other than on Ebay there is a TR3 that has the couplings for the
Plate/Load/& Tune shafts that look like surgical tubing....got me to
thinking heat shrink now that the gentleman from Muncie no longer has
his fittings available. ...anyone done anything like that?.....
