"Jim Shorney" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang ----------------------------------------------------------------------
I had intentionally set the power output of my TR7 after the PA rebuild a little on the conservative side just before Field Day, to see how things went. Since I still had the radio on the bench after investigating the mic connector grounding, I decided to set it up "by the book" and see how that worked. The service manual says to set the PO to 140-150 watts on 20 meters with the ALC pot. So I went for 145 watts. I found that to get ALC action across the whole 10 Meter band, I had to adjust the predriver gain pot at 29.7 MHz. Granted, most people would probably never transmit that high in the band with the TR7, but I wanted to get it right. Here are the results: 1.8 MHz - 135 Watts 3.8 MHz - 146 Watts 7.3 MHz - 151 Watts 14.3 MHz - 145 Watts 18.1 MHz - 120 Watts 21.3 MHz - 117 Watts 24.9 MHz - 110 Watts 27.3 MHz - 109 Watts 28.3 MHz - 108 Watts 28.8 MHz - 106 Watts 29.3 MHz - 104 Watts 29.7 MHz - 98 Watts After she was buttoned up, I was tuning around 20 Meters to see what could be heard. At 22:10 CDT, I worked the TO5E DXpedition on 14.250 - he answered my first call. I think it's working.... 73 -Jim (yeah, I forgot 30 Meters) NU0C ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Submissions: [email protected] Unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net ----------------------------------------------------------------------
