Tom -
Those are the only two versions of the TR-3 schematic that I have ever
seen. Your unit would be covered by 1018633001. I have seen TR-3s with
s/n below 3000, but never a schematic earlier than '3001.
Yes, the VERY early TR-4 is very similar to the TR-3, with the biggest
difference being the switch from 12JB6 finals to 6JB6 finals and the
change from a tube based PTO to a transistor version. The TR-3 used the
"soupcan" 4-pole SSB filter(s) which were carried over to the TR-4, then
a later dual 4-pole hermetically sealed unit by TYCO. The TR-4 changed
to dual 8-pole filters around s/n 26000.
There were 12 versions of the TR-4, up through the TR-4CwRIT.
By the way, Drake DID date their documentation.
1018633001 = Oct 18, 1963 - s/n 3001 and up
6186410000 = Jun 18, 1964 - s/n 10000 and up.

In anticipation of starting the restoration of my TR-3, serial number
3100A, I am trying to determine which version of the Drake manual
corresponds to my transceiver. Can anybody help!
Based upon my Internet search, there are at least two versions
available. BAMA and WB4HFN's Web Site,both, have manuals containing
drawing number 6186410000 (the BAMA copy has serial number 12050
written on its cover). BAMA also has a TR-3 schematic with drawing
number 1018633001 available; I assume, that this is from an earlier
version of the manual. Perhaps, there may have been a version earlier
than this one? BTW: the BAMA and WB4HFN manual's appear to be close
to the early TR-4 manual.
It is unfortunate that Drake didn't date their documentation. Even a
copy-write date would have been helpful.
I know I am being a bit of a "nit-picker" over manuals, but would
still appreciate any assistance you can give me.
