Phil, Apologies to Dave, but I've had very good luck with the HC-4 element thru the matching xfmr driving my Drakes (T4XC, TR-4C). I also have several older Hi-Z Shures and EV's. My Shure 545S works particularly well with the Drakes. All have pros and cons. The Heil set-up is equal to the others, and is my "tool" of choice for contests and pile-ups Rick W9WS
