Agreed. ALC that is used for strictly limiting action, as is typical in vintage rigs, seems to do OK. Where the problems come in is when ALC is used as syllabic compession. A difference of one end or t'other of a split hair. When I'm running in a test, I like to use the SP75 to keep the TR7 *just* below the ALC point.
