A properly working and adjusted TR7 should do 140-150 watts into a dummy load on 40 meters, less on other bands. The ALC is either cranked up, or not working properly. Running at less power than the transistors are capable of contributes to the stability and reliability of the PA deck. >When I go to put the rig in general coverage to get to the adjustment freqs, >the up/down buttons will not move the freq up and down in 500 cycle ranges >like it should. Given that you said the radio was pretty dirty, the above problems could be related to grunge or oxidation in the pin connectors. Before you spend any time troubleshooting, I would advise pulling all of the boards and cleaning the Molex connectors and also the smaller brown connectors that plug in to the DR7. A sparing application of DeOxit to the pins afterwards wouldn't hurt, either. Good luck, and let us know what you find! 73 -Jim -- Ham Radio NU0C Lincoln, Nebraska, U.S.S.A.
